SHOCKER: There Are More Obese People In The World Now Than The Underweight

The number of obese people all across the world has increased dramatically in the past 40 years, and now tops the number of people who are underweight, according to a new study.
The study, published in the journal The Lancet, looked at global, regional and national body mass index patterns among adults from 1975 to 2014, and found 641 million obese people in 2014, compared to 105 million in 1975. Over the same time period, the proportion of obese men worldwide has more than tripled and the proportion of obese women has more than doubled. The number of people who are underweight has fallen slightly.

Based on these findings, the researchers estimated that in nine years, a fifth of all adults globally and 40% of American adults will be obese.
“Over the past 40 years, we have changed from a world in which underweight prevalence was more than double that of obesity, to one in which more people are obese than underweight,” said study author Majid Ezzati from the School of Public Health at Imperial College London in a statement. The researchers add that being underweight continues to be a problem in poor areas, especially in South Asia and East Africa.
“Present interventions and policies have not been able to stop the rise in BMI in most countries,” the study authors conclude. “To avoid an epidemic of severe obesity, the next step must be to implement these policies, and to systematically assess their effect.”

People really need to start paying attention to what they eat, do regular exercise in order to minimize this obesity rate.

BREAKING: Sweden Records A New Lassa Fever Case

swedish woman with lassa fever goziehealth

A Swedish hospital on Friday said it was treating a female patient with Lassa fever, citing that she had contracted the disease while traveling in West Africa.

The Sahlgrenska University Hospital, where she was being treated, said that her condition was improving.

However, in line with national guidelines, she would be shortly moved from the hospital in the west coast city of Gothenburg to a special unit at Linkoping University Hospital, south-west of Stockholm.

Meanwhile precaution health officials were also generating a list of people, including those in the hospital, who had close contact with the patient.

In 2011, a Swedish woman who worked for Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in West Africa was also treated at Linkoping for the disease.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Lassa virus is transmitted to humans from contact with rodent excretions, and between humans through blood, urine and bodily secretions as well as contaminated medical equipment.

“The disease results in hearing loss in 25 per cent of patients, and in severe cases the mortality rate can be as high as 15 per cent,” WHO said.

Symptoms of the disease include fever, weakness, headaches, vomiting and diarrhoea.

The first confirmed case of the disease was in 1969, in Lassa village in Nigeria’s Borno.
Report says the disease is endemic in several West African countries but rare in Europe.

A New Case Of Ebola Confirmed In Liberia -WHO

new ebola case in liberia goziehealth

A new case of Ebola has been confirmed in Liberia, the World Health Organization said Friday, a setback for the country which had been declared free from Ebola transmissions in January.

Investigations are underway into the new case that has emerged in Liberia, WHO said on Twitter. The West African country was declared free from transmission on Jan. 14. Liberia was first declared free of the disease in May, but new cases emerged two times — forcing officials there to restart the clock each time.

WHO on Friday reiterated that Ebola is no longer an international health emergency, but said flare-ups, at decreasing frequency, are expected.

Flare-ups have also occurred in Sierra Leone and in Guinea, though health authorities say those are not linked to the original chain of transmission. Guinea's flare-up on March 17 came months after the outbreak was declared over there and hours after Sierra Leone announced the end of the recent flare-up of the virus there.

WHO on Friday said there have been eight cases of Ebola and seven deaths in Guinea since late February. The most recent case, an 11-year old girl, is being treated at an Ebola care facility in Nzerekore, and is in stable condition, it said. Six of the deceased are from three generations of the same extended family in the village of Koropara, it said.

The deadliest Ebola outbreak has killed more than 11,300 people, mostly in Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea since December 2013. There are currently no known cases in Sierra Leone.

How To Survive A Heart Attack When You Are Alone

survive heart attack goziehealth

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Cardiologists have confirmed that deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm.
In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital.
